What You'll Discover In This Episode:
I personally utilize theme days and have done so since I started my business over a decade ago. At first it started not necessarily as a choice but a necessity for efficiency.
When I first started my business 13 years ago, I had to test the market and build my clientele. My business was in its infancy and so was my son. I couldnāt justify full-time daycare so I registered my son for only two days a week, and that meant I had to make those two days count! I arranged my schedule to only meet with clients the two days a week I had childcare. Of course, I didnāt tell my clients, āI am not available because I donāt have childcare.ā I would say things like, āThe next available day I can meet is (fill in the blank)ā or āI can meet again next Tuesday or Thursday... Do either of those days work for you?ā
As my business grew, my goal was to fill the entirety of those two days with back to back meetings. When that started happening, I would then say things like, āIām available Tuesday at 10 am or Thursday at 2 pm. Do either of those times work for you?ā And guess what, they usually did. If they didnāt, I would look at my following week for availability and weād go from there. Back then, I batched client appointments into theme days because I had to. Today, I continue to use theme days because I want to. In fact, the theme days I consistently use have changed many times over the years as my business and life have changed but the need for them has only grown as my business has grown. I choose to batch all sorts of similar tasks in the name of ease, efficiency, and improved workflow. Batching tasks into theme days has served me well and it continues to do so. Perhaps it could be a game-changing time management for your business, too!
In this episode of the Small Business Straight Talk Podcast, I dive into the topic of theme days and how to implement them so you can take advantage of the awesome benefits gained from taking your time blocking from good to better to batch!
