If youā€™ve been listening to my podcast, reading my emails, or taking advantage of my masterclasses and programs for a while, you likely know that I specialize in working with entrepreneurs who run service-based businesses.

What you may not know, is that when it comes to elevating othersā€™ productivity and helping them improve their time management, service-based doesnā€™t stop at real estate agents, interior designers, lawyers, financial planners, and the like.

Some of my favorite clients to work with run totally non-conventional businesses (at least to this city girl). They provide incredible services that you may not come in contact with every day. Take a pair of farmers who empower and teach people how to grow their own organic produce for instance.

While offering a somewhat unconventional service, Jason Long and Santiago Arroyo face similar challenges as business owners in more conventional industries - challenges with hiring, onboarding, leadership, planning, creating routines, prioritizing projects and ideas, creating structure, and maximizing profits ā€“ all productivity challenges that I love helping them pinpoint and overcome to grow their business.

In this episode of Productivity Straight Talk, I sit down with Jason and Santiago to get an inside look at how they are specifically embracing adaptability and overcoming a love of chaos, conflicting projects, and a global pandemic to operate their thriving farming business.

No matter what kind of business you run, you can be sure this episode is packed with valuable takeaways.

About Guest:

Jason Long believes that everyone deserves access to fresh food as a basic human right. By co-founding Tree Amigos Growers plant nursery in 2016, he lives up to this notion by empowering communities within his South Florida bio region to create their own food systems.

Through the experiences of managing small organic farms since 2011 he understands the two major disconnects of South Floridaā€™s ability to become food independent; access to land due to urban sprawl and the limited local knowledge to organic gardening.

Combine this with his passion for teaching, his dedication to problem solving, and his joy of story telling, he became determined to make organic gardening easy, help others to re-imagine access to land, and provide the support it takes to be successful in growing their own food. After all, real independence begins when you can control your own food system.

Santiago Arroyo was born in Quito, Ecuador and has been farming professionally in South Florida for 8 years. His journey started with the great advice of his best friend David and an introduction to permaculture. Soon after, he became co-creator of Treehugger Organic Farms in Davie, FL. Currently, as co-owner of Tree Amigos Growers, Santiago is dedicated to the development of a strong local food system one backyard grower at a time. He values integrity, focused dedication, and passion for growing food. When he is not at work, you can Santiago at home loving life with his wife Carmen and 2 year old son FĆ©lix.
