What You'll Discover In This Episode:
Without fail, whenever my husband glances at my calendar (the master calendar synced to my phone that I’m constantly scrolling through), he looks at me like How do you function? How is it possible to have that much scheduled on your calendar and not go insane? And I think, this calendar keeps me on track. It’s how I stay organized, create the life I choose, and account for where I’m spending my time. All these little color-coded rectangles are awesome. This calendar is a life saver!
But to Joe, just the thought of following such a schedule feels overwhelming. That’s because everyone’s threshold for overwhelm is different. What feels great to you may make another business owner feel exceedingly overwhelmed, stressed out, and burned out.
In regard to your schedule, only one opinion really matters - yours. Your calendar has to look and feel great to you. It has to be in sync with the kind of life you want to live, relationships you want to have, and work you want to accomplish. If it doesn’t look and feel great… if you get the heebie-jeebies just glancing at your own calendar… if you feel overwhelmed just thinking about all there is to do this week, something’s gotta give. Living in a constant state of overwhelm robs you of joy and productivity.
So what’s causing your overwhelm? What’s the culprit of those anxious feelings you have when you look at tomorrow’s workload? Without getting to the root cause, you’ll never be able to make it better, so start getting to the bottom of your overwhelm so yo can make necessary changes.
I dare say the cause is one of the big O’s. And I’m not talking about the kind we all want 😉 I’m talking about the kind that make your head spin and lead to absolute overwhelm, undue stress, and if left unchecked, burnout and a health scare.
In this episode of Productivity Straight Talk, I dive into the three big O’s in your business that lead to overwhelm and discuss what you can do about them to keep them from robbing you of joy and productivity.
