What You'll Discover In This Episode:
Do you find yourself spending as much time putting out fires IN your business as you spend working ON your business?
Do you find that you’re exhausted and defeated at the end of each day because yet again, you’re rolling much of your task list over to the following day because you spent the last several hours putting out fires instead of completing your important work?
Do you find that your day gets totally away from you because you’re pulled away from all the projects and tasks you had planned to put out fire after fire in your business.
Constantly having to put out fires in your business can be all-consuming of your time and energy, leaving you feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, and exhausted, and halting progress toward your goals. It can feel completely defeating, too, because as soon as you put out one fire and think you can get back to work, another seems to ignite, right?
Think playing a game of whack-a-mole. Your heart races as you frantically whack one mole, then another pops up, then another, then two at the same time, then another, and you attempt to whack each one until the buzzer goes off. Well, at least you win tickets at the end of whack-a-mole. At the end of your day, you lose out on progress toward your goals and profits when you;’ve just spent it putting out fire after fire.
My worry is that you’ve normalized being a firefighter in your business when truth be told, it doesn’t have to be like that! Fires CAN be few and far between instead of multiple times a day. You CAN spend your work day working instead of firefighting.
In this episode of Productivity Straight Talk, I dive into the concept of firefighting in your business, get to the bottom of who is at fault for many of the fires taking up your time and energy, and offer solutions so you can stop being a part-time firefighter IN your business and get back to working ON your business.
