My mentor Darren LaCroix has a saying that I constantly find myself reiterating to my coaching clients... ā€œDone is more profitable than perfect.ā€

So true, right?

Half-finished projects donā€™t give you a return. Projects youā€™ve given up and thrown in the towel on donā€™t give you a return. Projects you pressed go on but have been sitting on the backburner collecting dust for years donā€™t give you a return. Only completed projects do.

The lesson?

Stop taking on so many projects at once! Itā€™s like pushing all the elevator buttons at the same time.

When you lose momentum getting to where you want to go (and lose time, energy, attention, and money) because the door keeps opening and the elevator keeps stopping, you get frustrated and feel stuck because youā€™re not seeing the fruits of your labor. And it takes what feels like forever to make it to your destination so you might even give up.

If you want to start seeing sizable returns every time you invest your resources of time, energy, attention, and money, youā€™ve gotta stop pushing all the elevator buttons at once and start being more intentional with what projects you invest in.

Ask What does my business need right now? Then choose which project (once completed) will best meet that need. Take that project all the way to the finish line or as close to the finish line as possible, then start your next project, still aiming to finish the first as soon as possible.

Too many well-meaning business owners can look around and see half-finished projects strewn all over their offices, walls, and computer screens, just like dead bodies.

Donā€™t let that be you. Make your hard work profitable by focusing all your resources on one project at a time. That is the most effective way to see a return the fastest and build momentum to take on more projects that will grow your business and your bank account.

In this episode of Productivity Straight Talk, I walk you through better ways of managing your projects and ideas so you can get unstuck, accomplish everything your business needs from you more efficiently, and achieve greater success.
