Here we are.

It’s the 16th of March and most of us have been affected by COVID-19 in one way or another, whether that’s your kids’ schools and activities being cancelled until April, clients canceling appointments that have been on your calendar for months, friends losing their jobs, the stock market plummeting, not being able to find toilet paper at your supermarket, or simply feeling increased fear and anxiety as you witness the panic and mania become more widespread.

Can’t we just cancel this 90-day trial of 2020?

Nope. Here we are.

But this too shall pass. The question is, where will you be at the end of this outbreak? Where will your business be?

As we responsibly social-distance over these next few weeks, it can be a truly isolating experience, but it doesn’t have to be! It can be a growing experience. A family bonding experience. A business strategy experience. It can be the moment of stillness in your life that you’ve been begging for but never thought would happen.

As a small business owner doing all the things, you no doubt need more time. Just look at all the time you’re getting back now! Think positively, be proactive, and these next few weeks can count for way more than a snow day.

Consider… what can you do with all that extra time?

Enjoy more dinners and game nights with your family because you’re not driving around to all the kids’ sports and activities? Call to catch up with your high school BFF, college roomie, and cousin Pete whom you haven’t spoken to in ages? Clean out those three miscellaneous bins in the garage (what the heck could be in those anyway)? Complete a project in your business you didn’t think you’d ever have time for but now do because of having to push pause on the conference/presentation/promotion/program?

Think about all the things you wish you had the time and energy to do and now you do because of everything else you can’t be doing.

As I was reminded on Facebook…

GROWING YOUR BUSINESS ALSO NOT CANCELLED

We just need to plant different seeds. Make some changes. Pivot from the direction we were headed, strategize, and embrace our new direction.

We’ve got to be decisive. Be proactive. Be grateful. Be positive.

In this week’s episode, I talk about exactly that.

And now… in this episode of Productivity Straight Talk, I dive into the topic of navigating COVID-19 as small business owners so we can all make the tough decisions, embrace the necessary pivot, and move our lives and businesses forward during this time of uncertainty.
