What You'll Discover In This Episode:
Today marks an incredible milestone (drumroll please...) our 400th episode!
Never could I have imagined when I started the podcast that we would take it to 400 episodes. That’s eight years of weekly episodes and 400 weeks of content created to help you improve your productivity, time management, business systems, leadership, strategic decision making, and mindset, so you can get results and succeed in business. It has been a wild ride and it feels great to hit this milestone.
And it all started when I became a mom. Because everything changed in that single moment. My life was suddenly different. The way I viewed the world was different. I was different. I had a new purpose, a greater calling.
I wanted to give this sweet little baby boy every ounce of love and affection I had in me. I didn’t want to go back to corporate America and leave him with a stranger - at least not yet. My husband and I made the tough decision to do whatever we had to for the first two years to keep me home so I could raise our newborn son. It required a lot of sacrifice. A LOT, but it was worth it and opened up a door of incredible possibility that got me and my family to where we are today.
That initial decision to stay home with my baby paved the way for more and more decisions that eventually led to me starting my business on my son’s second birthday. I opened my business so I could continue to stay home, make my own hours, and create income for our family at the same time. The early days of building my business while figuring it out as I went along were teeming with critical feedback, pivots, failures, crying, and breakdowns, but also with a-ha’s, new skills, mindset breakthroughs, and growth.
Starting this podcast as a marketing strategy back in 2017 turned out to be one of the best business decisions I made along the way, so I stuck with it through the ups and downs and here we are - 15 years into my business and 8 years into my podcast!
To celebrate, I am turning the tables for this very special 400th episode of the Small Business Straight Talk Podcast. Instead of me giving the straight talk or interviewing fascinating guests, I am interviewed by my marketing content creator.
I invite you to tune in and go behind the scenes of my business with me to learn about my personal journey, the entrepreneurial struggles you usually don’t hear about, and what I’ve learned over 400 podcast episodes and 15 years of business ownership.
