I have a confession of sortsā€¦

Scroll down my social media pages and youā€™d see theyā€™re speckled with spelling and grammar errors. And Iā€™m not talking about common errors like using theyā€™re for their or effect for affect. Iā€™m talking about the kind of errors that are so bad that dear friends feel the need to email you about them. The kind that makes you do a face palm. The kind that makes Homer Simpson utter his famous catchphrase Dā€™oh! If I post something organically without my assistant or husband reviewing it first, you can bet thereā€™s at least a vowel missing.

I decided I must have snoozed through 2nd or 3rd grade when everyoneā€™s taught the rules of the English language like i before e except after c. I never could spell and my grammarā€™s not that great either but guess what? I didnā€™t let that weakness hold me back. I still decided to go into business, a business in which Iā€™d have to use written communication with my clients a ton. I knew full well Iā€™d be putting myself at risk of clients noticing my flaw. I also knew I was passionate about sharing the benefits of productivity with entrepreneurs all over the world and I wasnā€™t going to let my frequent misspellings and misuse of the English language (or business bloopers as I like to call them) stifle the vision I had for my business.

So what bloopers have you made in business? Theyā€™re pretty much inevitable after all, especially when youā€™re starting out and learning the lay of the land. Whatā€™s important to remember is you can let a blooper instill fear, stress, anxiety, and a sense for failure, or you can look at it as a learning experience that gifted you the opportunity to grow. After theyā€™re all said and done, I choose to look at bloopers in my rearview mirror, identifying them as small speedbumps I had to cross to get to where I am today.

This weekā€™s episode of Productivity Straight Talk is an exciting one for me because itā€™s my 100th episode! To celebrate, I decided to do something a bit different and take you on a journey through some of the silliest bloopers Iā€™ve made in my business along my entrepreneurial journey. Donā€™t worry though, youā€™ll get more than a good laugh. Youā€™ll also get some inspiration and takeaways to help you recover quickly from your own business bloopers.

  • Thank you Amber for sharing your bloopers. This episode made me feel better about the mistakes I’ve made. Even though I want everything run perfect with my business and my clients, I now understand and accept that making mistakes is part of the learning and living process. With this episode I felt supported, so thank you very much. Keep doing a great podcast. Sincerely: Anabell
