What You'll Discover In This Episode:
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, right? Or so the adage goes.
Others might suggest their own twist of making a lemon drop martini or a lemon chiffon cake out of the lemons life gives you. Regardless of the words used, the meaning remains the same: have a positive attitude in the face of adversity and keep pushing forward. Usually I do. Last year was different.
When life continued to hurdle bowl-full after bowl-full of lemons at me, I decided I didn’t want to make lemonade or a lemon drop martini or even lemon chiffon cake. I didn’t want to set new goals, dream up new tasks to projects to get me there, create new, exciting offers, or make any big investments. I just wanted to maintain the status quo in my business and life. I wanted to hold the line. And looking back, it was the right strategy for that season, when life kept punching me in the face and I didn't know what was around the next corner.
Holding the line was the goal. I didn’t allow myself to retreat. I didn’t force myself to make lemonade. I wanted to hold the line and I did, which was a huge victory for me. You see, success doesn’t always look like more clients, more growth, or more revenue. Sometimes, it looks like standing strong in the face of adversity and simply holding the line.
In this episode of the Small Business Straight Talk Podcast, I reflect on the last year in my business and give you a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges I overcame, as well as my thought process on determining the right solutions for myself and my business.
