What You'll Discover In This Episode:
Ever made tacos?
I love making tacos for my family. We eat them or at least Mexican food on the regular. They’re easy to make and oh-so-delicioso. I pretty much use the same recipe each time:
Ground beef
My Seasoning Blend (garlic salt, pepper, onion powder, chili powder, oregano, cumin
Tortilla Shells (hard for husband, soft for son, gluten-free for me)
Salsa
Shredded cheddar
Sour Cream
Occasionally, I have extra time or I get creative and try a different ingredient or two. Maybe add in some cilantro or top the tacos with a chipotle sauce. Perhaps I add an avocado slice or get really crazy and turn an avocado into guacamole. Yum!
You know what I never do? Switch out my taco recipe entirely. Why? Because it works! My family loves them. When I cook tacos, I know my efforts will be appreciated, tastebuds will be happy, and bellies will be full. I wouldn’t be sure of that outcome if I swapped out the beef for chicken, salsa for pico de gallo, cheddar for cotija, etc. all at the same time. That recipe might be an epic fail.
I have the same approach with my business. I pay a lot of attention to what’s working and choose to double down on those strategies instead of focusing all of my time and efforts on strategies that could work… that could have a return… that could prove to be a wise investment of my resources. There’s no need to totally reinvent a great De La Garza taco and there’s no need to turn your business upside down trying every strategy under the sun when a lot of your strategies are currently working.
In this episode of Productivity Straight Talk, I dive into an alternative strategy to focusing on what could work. And that’s leveraging what’s working already! Doubling down on what’s already working is a simple but powerful goal achievement strategy that’s underutilized but could prove very beneficial for your business.
