What You'll Discover In This Episode:

  • Why Aiming To Be Productive All Day Is Foolish
  • Where You Should Be Spending Your Time In Your Business
  • How To Make “I’m A Work In Progress” A Celebration, Not An Excuse
  • What Tough Questions You Need To Ask Yourself
  • So Much More!

I’m going to tell you something you might not like…

You ready?

Stop aiming to be productive all day, every day. It’s literally killing your productivity!

You may have the best intentions of being productive all day long so you can run a sustainable, profitable business but that line of thinking is totally counterproductive (and foolish!).

No one, and I mean no one, has the energy, stamina, organization, and mental capacity to be productive all day.

As a reminder, being productive doesn’t mean being busy.

Nor does it mean getting everything done.

Being productive is all about investing your best time (blocks of focused, uninterrupted time) into your best activities (the ones that directly achieve your goals). And you simply can’t do that all day.

When you’re aiming to be productive as you check emails, listen to voicemails, read contracts, track your expenses, and perform other necessary administrative tasks, you’re just watering down the definition of productivity and allowing yourself to get stuck being busy in the Other bucket instead of prioritizing and working on the high-value activities that will actually grow your business.

What that leads to is constantly succumbing to the fire fighter mode of running a business – always putting out fires, letting others dictate how you spend your day, and ending each day without having accomplished much.

That’s no way to run a successful business!

In this episode of Productivity Straight Talk, I talk about how far too often, business owners aim to be productive all day even though that line of thinking is actually counterproductive to being productive. I go on to discuss what you should aim to do instead to maximize your days and streamline achieving your business goals (and hint: it’s not busywork!).
