The Time Investment: Putting Your Time To Work For You

The Time Investment: Putting Your Time To Work For You

Jim Rohn says, “Time is our most valuable asset. Yet we tend to spend it, kill it, and waste it. Rather than invest it.” How are you investing in your time? Are you using it wisely or wasting it? Productive people become successful people because they consistently invest their time into their best activities. To be able to do that, they say no to more things than most people.

Time Rescue: 3 Simple Strategies To Reclaim Your Most Precious Commodity

I teach my clients that productivity is investing your best time into your best activities. Simple, right? Well, simple does not mean easy. Every day we wake up and start our day with the intention to be productive but we often get sidetracked and fail to accomplish what we had set out to do. That’s because we often fail to maximize our time even though, “Time is the single most precious commodity in the universe.” (Jupiter Ascending. Dir. Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachowski. Warner Brothers, 2015.)

The idea that our offices will soon become paperless has been a dream for many of us for many years. The truth is we are far from a completely paperless office anytime soon. So the question becomes, “How can we manage all that paper?” Paper can overtake our office so much that it creates physical and mental clutter and clutter is an enemy of focus. Santa Approved Methods To Eliminate Holiday Stress

Eliminate Holiday Stress

Do you cringe each year in November when you first hear holiday music playing in the department stores? It can be like a sparkly red and green flashing alarm going off in your brain saying Oh no! It’s that time again – time for holiday parties, shopping for presents, house guests, traveling, decorating…

The holiday season is supposed to bring cheer and happiness but for many people, it is synonymous with stress and chaos. With the deadline of Chrismahanukwanzakah quickly approaching, the to-dos multiply exponentially and might leave you fearing you will never have enough time to get everything done. It’s no wonder already busy people have come to dread the scent of pine cones and chiming of sleigh bells.

Stress and chaos often come from the feeling of having too much to do combined with the uncertainty of getting it all done in time. Can you relate? My holiday anxiety has steadily decreased each passing year after figuring out the root cause and choosing to eliminate holiday stress from my life. Previously I approached each holiday season with too much optimism and not enough reality of what I could actually accomplish without stressing myself out. I had an ideal of what activities our family needs to do, what the house needs to look like, how large our holiday meal needs to be, and how perfect the gifts for our family and friends need to be. What I never planned on, was how high my level of stress would be – and I mean rip-your-own-hair-out high! I had been approaching the holiday season all wrong. Are you?

Assistant Fail: Is It Time To Break Up?

Clack, clack, clack. The sound of footsteps approaching my office again. It was Sally (we will use the name Sally to protect the innocent) at my office door asking me about a client file. Recently, when I hear the sound of my assistant entering my office I cringe and hold my breath. Could she really need me again? Does she have a question worth answering this time? Does she think I don’t work? How do I make it STOP!?…

How To Stop Unwanted Emails

Assistant Fail: Is It Time To Break Up?

Ugh… The frustration of unwanted emails. We all have them and we all hate them. You sign up for coupons, discounts, e-books, webinars, and more just to find out that the emails to follow do not provide you value. The idea of taking the time to opt out from email subscriptions seems so much harder than just ignoring or deleting them every single time you receive another email. However, do you realize how much time you waste deleting trivial emails and searching through your inbox trying to figure out what is important? In my experience, people waste at least 12 minutes per day on average being distracted by, deleting, and having to search through and qualify emails as to their importance. Unwanted emails may seem like just a nuisance but they are a productivity killer!

Are You Wasting Time On Pointless Activities?

Are You Wasting Time On Pointless Activities?

You waste time and you know it. You check Facebook. Watch television. Surf the Internet. You’re hardly alone. Most of us engage in these activities from time to time and are totally aware they’re wasteful uses of our time. I’m not worried about those. We choose to dig those graves and enjoy lying in them. What I’m worried about is the graves we unintentionally dig and fall into haphazardly. You should be worried too! I’m talking about wasting time on repetitive activities that we don’t even realize are wasteful. The good news is it’s possible to recognize those activities, decrease the time it takes to complete them, or totally avoid them altogether. I’ll show you how.
